Patty Sheehan's paintings are colorful, expressive and highly original.
Patty was raised in New Jersey, and has lived and worked in several states and abroad. She has always expressed herself through painting, drawing, singing, writing, and acting. As a teacher, psychotherapist, speaker and writer, Patty has inspired many children and adults to develop their own creativity and uniqueness.
From the beginning she knew she would be a painter. Before taking any formal classes, her primary influences in painting were Matisse, Van Gogh, Gaugin, other French impressionists, and her own grandfather who was an artist. Since her early twenties, when she lived in Europe, Patty has spent as much time in art museums as she could.

In Taos, Patty has studied and painted with Barbara Bartells, Leigh Gusterson, Gary Cook, Amy Cordova and many other talented artists.
Artist's Statement: When I paint, I feel deeply connected to my subject and create a mix of my own experience with it. When it works, it feels genuine, new and fresh, a part of nature.
